A Wood Finish I Use in My Own Workshop

Supreme Haarlem Danish Oil is one of my go-to finishes for woodturning and woodworking. I was first introduced to it by Robbie Graham at Wildwood Gallery many years ago, and I’ve never looked back. Made in New Zealand and rich in Tung Oil, it penetrates the timber to enhance its natural grain while creating a tough, durable, low-lustre finish. Easy to apply and maintain, it’s a finish I continue to use in my own workshop on woodturning, furniture and a wide range of timber projects.

Tested in the Wood Grain NZ Workshop

This is our go to wood oil finish also we have added this ATT article file that Dick Veitch and I wrote in the Creative Wood magazine about what is the best wood oil finishes that hold up and is one of the safest and how we tested them against each other and why we think Haarlem Danish oil got to the top.

How to Apply Haarlem Danish Oil

1. Prepare — Sand and clean the timber.

2. Apply — Work a thin coat into the timber.

3. Wipe Off — Remove excess oil rather than allowing it to build heavily on the surface.

4. Cure — Allow the finish to cure before use.
